Stephen Curry’s Unanimous Media has created a new developmental arm, Pathways Alliance, the production company announced Friday.

Through the program, Unanimous will work with selected authors from the NBA star’s Literati Book Club, Underrated, over an 18-month period to create inspiring projects and allow authors to share their original visions across all mediums, from television series and films to documentaries and podcasts.

Kalyna Kutny will run the newly formed venture and report to Unanimous Media co-founder Erick Peyton. Per the multimedia company’s press release, the team will also assist Curry’s Underrated Book Club team, led by Hilary Awad (Head of Brand of SC30), “with the selection process for the book club while simultaneously evaluating the stories for further development under the Unanimous banner.”

UM’s goal is to work with authors who are new to the development process and create IP for the company, with the possibility of bringing in its existing partnerships with such media companies as A24, Sony and Audible.

“Stephen and I wanted to launch an initiative where we could work with authors to not just option their material but wholly invest in them,” Peyton said in a statement. “By tapping into our relationships and partnerships, we are able to amplify these authors and create a platform for their ideas to be developed and heard. Unanimous is creating a media ecosystem in TV, Film and Audio and it is important that we shepherd new voices into that system.”

The first group of selected authors includes Wes Moore (The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates) and Cole Brown, whose book Greyboy: Finding Blackness in a White World received an NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Literary Work. Additional authors will be added to the program throughout the year. Moore is repped by Linda Loewenthal and Brown is repped by CAA Angela Dallas and Dana Spector.

“I am thrilled to be selected as the inaugural member of Pathways Alliance. Stories promote action, and at a time where storytelling and content creation is more important than ever before, I am honored to work with a team that is committed to making the world stronger one platform at a time,” said Moore, who is CEO of the anti-poverty organization Robin Hood (not to be confused with the day-trading app).

“We’re grateful for the opportunity to induct some of the book club’s most promising voices to the Pathways Alliance. Our shared mission to amplify these authors illustrates Stephen’s vision to see all his business endeavors create a cohesive ecosystem,” said Awad.

Curry’s Underrated Book Club launched in October 2020 and explores “what it means to break barriers,” according to Literati, featuring stories from those in sports, social justice and more on achieving success and greatness.
